Osso VR, an immersive training platform for healthcare professionals, has expanded its medical training library to include orthopaedic surgery specialities.
The immersive surgical training business has enhanced its graduate medical education training services by introducing five new modules to its training platform. The modules present hyper-realistic content across various subspecialty areas, granting trainees access to an expansive orthopaedic virtual reality training library with over 30 modules.
Osso suggests the addition of the diagnostic knee arthroscopy model stands out among the new five for incorporating “Illustrative View”, an innovative assessment tool available in both the immersive operative suite and on the Osso Analytics web platform. This feature enables users to visualize their performance, enhancing their comprehension of anatomic understanding.
“Healthcare is facing considerable challenges, as we are seeing a shortage of healthcare professionals who must perform an ever-growing number of procedures that are also increasing in complexity,” said Justin Barad, MD, orthopaedic surgeon and CEO and co-founder of Osso VR.

Accompanying the arthroscopy module are four other orthopaedic procedures, namely supracondylar humerus fracture and carpal tunnel release. These join recently added content such as bi-malleolar ankle fractures and femoral neck fractures.
Osso stresses that every module within Osso Academy’s Premium Content Library is designed to align with the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) Milestone and Case Minimum requirements. This alignment complements the existing training curricula.
Osso VR’s solution plays a proactive role in training surgical professionals, offering a preparatory step before they engage in real-life surgeries in operating rooms. “Hand Control” implemented innovative ways to negate the need for a user to leverage a controller to navigate and interact with immersive training scenarios.
The “ground-breaking” feature, according to Osso VR, empowers healthcare professionals to participate in training scenarios with heightened immersion because of hand-tracking inputs.
Currently, Osso VR assists healthcare firms with XR scalability and delivery through a platform that promotes the creation of custom VR learning content.
