The technologies create ‘highly’ interactive and realistic training modules, according to the Indian technology news provider, Inc42, which shared the story.
Students will be able to use SparkVR content on VR headsets to interact with their virtual environment, resulting in greater engagement for related learning topics.
The AR and VR experiences startup, SparkVR, explains on its website that it designs solutions for ‘education’ and ‘industry’.
Nikhil Bhatnagar, Founder and CEO at SparkVR, gave a sense of the practical applications that its technology could be used for within the education sector: “Imagine a student putting on a VR headset and instantly getting inside a human heart.
“They can see the blood flow, watch the valves open and feel the heartbeat.
“This leap from static images to fully immersive experiences is what SparkVR envisions for the future of education.”
Backed by an iStart Rajasthan initiative to help foster local startups, SparkVR is reportedly working with five schools and two universities based in the Indian state of Rajasthan.
Users simply need VR headsets and ‘strong internet connections’ to gain access to SparkVR’s educational content, which is updated every quarter following a collaborative exchange between school teachers and the AR/VR provider.
It also has integrated analytics tools, allowing user engagement and performance to be tracked, providing heaps of useful data when it comes to optimising the training.
SparkVR sets itself apart from the competition by leveraging six degrees of freedom (6DoF), which refers to the various axes of movement that a user can enjoy, thereby creating a more life-like experience.
Inc42 points out that immersive technologies such as these also support hands-on learning, which are rarely used in traditional classrooms.
Moreover, it is not every day that VR solutions are integrated into schools but there is a clear demand for the technology as a recent ResearchGate report demonstrates through its discovery that 75 percent of public school students in India would like to replace the current teaching methods with VR.
NVIDIA Inception Program
That’s not all. Just three days ago, SparkVR took to LinkedIn to share the news that it was now collaborating with the US chip designer NVIDIA: “Proud to announce that SparkVR has been selected for the NVIDIA Inception program!
“This collaboration is a major step forward as we integrate AI into our VR and Metaverse content.
“With support from NVIDIA, we will accelerate innovation through advanced technologies, connect with venture capitalists, and gain access to cutting-edge technical resources to scale even faster.”
SparkVR was launched in 2022 by founders Nikhil Bhatnagar and Saskshi Pawar and it already appears to be making quite a splash.
The company has received INR 50 lakh in funding from investors including Royal Scottish Investment.
Earlier this month, Lenovo discussed the keys to expanding your business portfolio to meet the growing appetite for XR in education in an exclusive XR Today interview.
Leveraging its XR ecosystem and long history in education, Lenovo partnered with VictoryXR to scale the adoption of immersive learning tools for a new generation of students.
