The 3DtoMe design app is now available on the Vision Pro store
The Apple Vision Pro will gain new 3D design tools with the arrival of Dolium’s 3DtoMe app on the Vision Pro store.
Dilium, an Italian SME pitched at the forefront of Frontier Technologies, recently launched 3DtoMe for iOS and macOS users as well as Vision Pro. This app aims to democratise the creation of high-quality 3D models, making it accessible to a broader audience.
With 3DtoMe, the process aspires to be simplified so that users can generate detailed 3D models by merely taking photos with their iOS devices. This would streamline complex tools for both B2B and B2C channels and foster digital growth through user-friendly technology.
“We can’t wait to see what our users will do with all the possibilities offered by our latest app,” said Donato De Ieso, Co-founder and CEO of dilium and Italian Chapter President of VRARA.
The moment of release is always exciting because it offers new stimuli to push beyond one’s limits. This release will provide ample space for creativity and allow for unprecedented collaboration. Regarding Spatial Collaboration, it’s like being in a Zoom or Teams call, except that people can share and interact with their products within their environment.”
The 3DtoMe app is now available for free in Apple stores, with its ecosystem entailing several subscription plans. These range from a basic plan at $29.99/month to a comprehensive plan that includes all features for $79.99/month. Additionally, there is a customisable plan tailored to meet the specific requirements of enterprise companies.
More Details on The Feature Set On iOS and macOS
dilium says the advent of 3DtoMe on iOS marks a significant milestone in making 3D modelling both accessible and intuitive, paving the way for designers of all skill levels to engage in 3D creation without specialised training.
The subsequent macOS launch brings advanced features to the platform, including annotation tools, the capability to create 3D models from professional photographs, and the option to import existing models. This facilitated the sharing of models in formats compatible with web integration and augmented reality applications.
The introduction of the Web Viewer was an extra enhancement, bolstering the platform’s reach by allowing users to view and interact with 3D models directly in their web browsers, removing the need for additional software. dilium emphasised that this suite of tools collectively contributes to a more inclusive and versatile design environment, where the barriers to entry for 3D modelling are significantly lowered.
This 3DtoMe version is tailored to complement the Vision Pro’s spatial computing and collaboration.
What Other Vision Pro News Has Happened Recently?
Earlier this month, an IDC report underlined the conspicuous decline in global AR and VR headset shipments over the first quarter of 2024.
The report indicated that shipments dropped by 67.4 percent year over year in Q1. Notably, the decline primarily impacted VR headsets, as potential customers are increasingly seeking MR/AR devices instead.
Meanwhile, last month, reports emerged showing that both Apple and Meta were taking critical steps and restructuring methods to top the XR mountain.
According to the suppliers of its Vision Pro components, Apple informed them of plans to suspend production of the next Vision Pro model in June. Initially, Apple intended to debut a cheaper version of the Vision Pro with fewer features. However, recent reports indicate that Apple is now slowing down on these plans.
Also last month, at Apple WWDC 2024, Apple handed XR the stage with significant Vision Pro announcements – namely, new regional availability and a fresh OS.
Also revealed was Vision Pro image capturing, with Grant Petty, Blackmagic Design CEO, articulating his excitement about the new feature, which gives “professional filmmakers the tools to create remarkable stories with this powerful new format pioneered by Apple”.
